Thanks to Hillcrest, for leading me to this pen by name and number.
I didn’t expect to open an object every inch as beautiful as a Lee Five Star Grade pipe, when my Kaigelu 316 rollerball arrived in the mail today, but it is a breathtaking piece of shirt pocket jewelry, for $25.

The same 316 number pen comes in a fountain pen with choice of extra fine, fine, and medium nib for the same $25, with a screw type bottle ink converter in place. I ordered one of those, for the rare occasions I might use a fountain pen.
These are replicas of the famous Parker Dufold. My phone camera doesn’t capture the translucent beauty of the pen, but it shimmers and glows in any light, as you turn it.
The cartridges it takes are referred to as JinHao screw type, 10 for $9.
I have no illusions of a truly fine pen for $25. The gold plating on the accents will likely rub off quicker than the stars on a stamped star Lee. But it is truly, a very nice pen.
For ten times or more less than a truly fine pen costs, I can have as many of these very nice pens as I want, in all different colors, and only I’ll know they aren’t $250 pens.
These aren’t fake, any more than an Orient watch is a fake. They are weighty, carefully made, delightful holders for a rollerball ink cartridge.
If there was enough demand, the Chinese could make a pre war Kaywoodie Flame Grain replica for $25.
See what $25 buys for a very nice pen.
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
