Great looking, but man you had to spend a lot on all that machinery...whats a butter knife go for these days ;)

I kind of liked the carving marks on the outside. You should make a rusticated version if you try it again.
Lol, that butter knife cost me about $1 at the antique shop! I really liked it because it was surprisingly sharp.

I will definitely consider a rusticated look. I almost went with a "seashell" or sort of "sandblasted" look for this one but ultimately decided on smooth.

Clearly that is not the first time you ever carved a pipe! Very nice work, makes me want to smoke it.
I usually slim down or alter corncobs but I haven't carved a pipe by hand for almost 20 years and never meerschaum till now. I'm often busy carving something though. Here's a tamper I did a little while ago.

What is your carving experience level? I personally have always been terrible at it.
Ummm? I don't know?

I have carved a fair amount of wood, I was pretty invested in making slingshots for a while. I made myself a violin with a duck head instead of a scroll. I made a new grill for one of my accordions. Carved a nice pattern in some poplar for a coffee table for my wife. I also like making sailing models. Though I plan on making a real small sailboat this summer probably 12'-14'.

I do all my work with hand tools, and usually the wrong hand tools.. lol

I'll attach a few pictures of my "crafting".
