Welcome aboard. Having been in the Old North State for most of my adult working life, I know the smell of tobacco factories well, in Winston-Salem and Durham especially. Blend sampling can be impelling, but I'd take it slow if you can, and give blends a second chance if they don't immediately appeal. Small quantities of different blends and genres is a good idea. Don't overstock on blends you like since your tastes may change over time.
