Already enough scalping and gouging in the market, I just buy tobacco to smoke and to share with folks who haven't tried certain blends.Might as well buy a bunch, if anything you can probably sell them for double in 5 or 10 years.

I picked up a few, but I’m not gonna open them for a few years so it’s hard to get too excited
Tell that to C&D. Their marketing strategy is designed to tweak the very behavior you're talking about.Amen! There needs to be some areas in life that are immune to baser human behavior.
Can't fault a company for doing their best to make their product seem/be desirable. If their marketing results in the immediate sale of their entire stock, and the product is good enough to warrant it, why is that bad?Their marketing strategy is designed to tweak the very behavior you're talking about.

I know what you're saying and on one hand I admire C&D's ingenuity. They've done a better job than most to promote their blends to cellaring fans and hoarders, even if it sometimes means taking a more or less conventional product and making it seem remarkable and rare. From what I can see, it seems to be working pretty well for them. On the other hand, it's also a bit complicated. The tobacco industry has had a long history of trying to promote their products in questionable and sometimes unethical ways. Which is part of the reason the FDA is regulating the industry with such a heavy hand today.
Is this red Virginia stuff not being made anymore? If people love this blend and the Mclelland red Virginia blends that much, you’d think someone would want to sell into that market.
Those jerks. Continuing to innovate to bring us products we like at reasonable prices. ?Tell that to C&D. Their marketing strategy is designed to tweak the very behavior you're talking about.
That is a twisting of the original message McClellands gave us for the reason... it's not a lack of reds, but one particular grower supplied them with raw leaf that is no longer doing so...My understanding is part of the reason McClelland shut down is because of the scarcity of quality red VAs.
In 5-10 years all the current hoarders are going to be trying to sell their booty, to fewer and fewer buyers.Might as well buy a bunch, if anything you can probably sell them for double in 5 or 10 years.

They have no control over what their customers choose to do with the product once purchased.
Right now 4Noggins has 2017 Carolina Red Flake tins for $95Might as well buy a bunch, if anything you can probably sell them for double in 5 or 10 years.

I had written more, but it's not my place to correct people. Ha ha, but I will agree that it may be misinformed buyers affecting the market.
