Maybe because of the heat or something but I just smoked 2 bowls of First Responders - and my head is swimming. There is alot of perique in this blend - which comes to the forefront when lighting up this blend - then falls to the background only resurface later on. Puffing vigorously on the pipe seems to stir the perique taste - while if I take small gentle puffs - I sort of get the Payday taste that was mentioned in a posting. However, I don't know if I like this blend - will have to give a try again in a couple of other pipes. Meanwhile - I am in a cold sweat and have a "Fat Head!"

Crazy from the heat. 108F today and I worked outside all day in it! So now I will embark on the Royal Yacht in a small Calibresi and think of sea mist and siren songs...

Ahhh my head has cleared. The night has cooled. Just finished H&H Stogie blend with a late cup of Joe - what a great combination. Both the coffee and tobacco have earthy flavors that just compliment each other. I could see smoking this blend and enjoying a fine scotch or a great Cabernet Sauvignon.
Now here is a perique blend I can really enjoy - and the maduro leaf really is pronounced and not overwhelmed...but rather complimented by other flavors. Tobacco Blender Russ Oullette - certainly is a master when it comes to perique blends.

Well finally got over the chest infection which has had me coughing and spluttering for the past week. That's also meant no pipes for me :-( But got the pipe out for the first time and am currently puffing on a bowl of Petersons Connoisseurs Choice in my MM Cob

Welcome back jules!

Frenchy's is next on my list, jc!

For me it's GLP Telegraph Hill in the Chacom Canadian that I DGT'd last night, with the morning coffee, an Ethiopian Yrgacheffe that's out of this world.

I don't really feel like working today, and am now considering the merits of playing hooky....
