Jose Rubio: My New Red Dragon

I don't make posts about every new pipe I get. This one was highly anticipated and special. It arrived a few hours ago. It was more than I could afford. Jose gave me a deep discount so that I could afford one of his pipes. He surprised me by sending me the pipe that I initially wished for. I didn't expect that. It's great... about 6+ inches... 49 grams... He's known for his highly detailed "dragonscale" sandblasting and for his quality work on stems... This is my red dragon! I love it... Check out his facebook page too see his pipes for sale... also pipes2smoke and sybarite pipe. Has anyone else had an experience with Mr. Rubio? What blend would you break this in with?

I broke into my stash of 5 y/o Stonehaven for my Rubio Dragon Scale Rhodesian's first smoke but I would not hesitate in your favorite flake, if you smoke them, otherwise your favorite tobacco and it will be a killer smoke to match your pipe, congratulations.

I'm not a fan of blasts, but Jose Rubio's dragon scale blasts are an exception. I've been wanting one for a while myself. Will probably pull the trigger on one in the near future. Congrats and enjoy the heck out of it!

Great looking pipe. Rubio does some serious blast work. I have one of Rubio's pipes and it smokes pretty well. I broke mine in with Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia Plug. It is a blend that I use to break in most all of my new pipes.

While I certainly agree that the pipe is "awesome", "elegant" "eye catching", "magnificent" and, "stunning", and that the ring grain is beautifully and obviously painstakingly accomplished, the part I like most is the stem.
