I just learned to beware of single malts less than thirty bucks. I was always told well, no one has heard of this yet. But they will! Yes, heard, herded away

Laphroaig and other highly peated malts must've numbed my peat receptors, because I hardly get any from Double Black (or Black Grouse).

I haven't had the double black but I've had the red and didn't particularly like it. I tend to stick to single malts, islay or otherwise.

Sunny Cornwall, UK.
I've tried many blended Scotch whiskies in my time but by far the best is Whyte And Mackay. It even beats some single malts I have drunk.
As for favourite single malts I would proffer Aberlour, Glenmorangie and Cardhu.
Regards,
Jay.

AlexNorth - Red has a chemical tang to it. It is nothing like Black or Double Black. Told Winston Churchill drank Red. PM's pay must not have been much.

For a blended Scotch I prefer:
1) Batch 27 by Monkey Shoulder

2) Blue Label by JW
