Has any of the Old Timers smoked this popular blend back in the 70's?
A great friend stopped by on Saturday and saw my pipes, and told me he smoked only this blend when he smoked a pipe years ago. I researched and found out that Lane Limited makes a copy of it.

Greetings,
Unfortunately, Lane no longer makes John Rolfe. It was one of casualties of the R.J. Reynolds era, along with Four Seasons, Holiday, V.I.P., Edgeworth, Rum & Maple, and SWR Special Mixture.
Don't know if the new ownership (STG) plans to bring it back or not. Shame if they don't, it was pretty good.

Thank you so much for this info. I posted in the hard-to-find tobaccos thread about this but to no avail. My dad mentioned he used to smoke this blend at christmas time as a treat/change of pace.
He is the kind of guy that never asks for anything but is constantly trying to give his shirt away so hopefully this will be a nice surprise for him.
THANK YOU!

I certainly remember this blend and I thought it was very good. I am age 62 and remember those very special blends from many years past. By the way, a good substitute, in my opinion, is Cornell and Diehl's #403 Peach Brandy.

Yep, back in the '70's I think I tried all of the "drug store" blends. many were not very good but some were pretty good. Revelation and Barking Dog come to mind. C&D'd Epiphany is supposed to be like Revelation, although I have not tried it yet.

I got my copy of the Peach Brandy baccy in the other day, and it is your typical aromatic, nice flavorful blend for the first 1/2 of the bowl, then the stuff goes away quickly like all the other aromatics I've tried.
