I recently picked up 8 ounces of this from 4noggins because it sounded an awful lot like C&D's Billy Bud in the description and am I ever glad I got more than 2 ounces. What I've found is that it's downright delicious and I think I may like it even more than Billy Bud. That smoky latakia taste, a slight sweetness of virginia, and that velvety texture that cigar leaf adds. What's not to love?
One thing about it that struck me as odd. It was quite dry in the bag. Almost sharp feeling and quite crisp but not crumbling. I was a little apprehensive about loading it up at that level but I have heard that the man intends them to be that way so I decided to load and try it as it came to me. On the load and smoke it doesn't smoke hotter than I expect any tobacco and it is a good deal more flavourful than I've know any tobacco that is at that level. Not only that but it's a good long smoke and not at all fast burning. All in all if I had more than two thumbs I would raise them to this blend.
If the man himself sees this is it drier than intended or am I right on?
