John Cotton Pipes?

Anyone got one? Anyone know anything about them?

i spied a boxed pair of them locally but didn’t grab them yet as wasn’t sure if they were a marketing gimic or not.

any pointers would be greatly welcome

Never heard of them. But John Cotton was a tobacconist, so I wonder who made them and branded them John Cotton. Kinda like Astley’s I would think.

Yeah I was trying to think of they were like that or closer to rat rays who have an established pipe range

John Cotton was at 7 Frederick St as early as 1912-13. The shop was at this address until 1936, by 1937 they had move to 100 Princes Street (that's the short version of this pipe's story).

I have a two John Cotton and one Rattray shop pipes (these pipes being completely different from the current Rattray line). My guess is both were made in England. The Rattray is simply stamped Rattray's Perth. The John Cotton is stamped John Cotton and on the other side 7 Fredericks St. Edinburgh. Both are a nice Bruyere finish and both are Lovats. My other John Cotton pipe has a bowl that is shaped like a Scottish thistle, with a slim, round stem.
I don't know who supplied for either but they are all attractive pipes and good smokes.

Here’s the one i saw. The more I look at it i feel only the top pipe is john cotton and the other is just a spare. Also the buttons are different, with the too having more of an orofic style. The address on the case would fit with the button style and what @dmcmtk said.
