Joe Biden once famously said that he told his wife Joan that if she was ever home alone and heard a suspicious noise outside, to just take a shotgun and step out on the porch and fire off two blasts into the air, and that would scare any intruder away. "Just get a shotgun"
Biden could not even remember a time in his life when he and his family were not under 24/7 Secret Service protection.
That's what makes it so funny.
Joe Biden is not a pipe smoker, to the best of my knowledge, by the way.

He's a beekeeper. I think it was a Life magazine story about Dutch beekeepers.

I'd like to keep bees, but I live in an apartment in a city and therefore beekeeping is not really feasible . The bees would have to commute thru the mail slot and the neighbors would probably complain,

I love bees. Someone here in the UES of Manhattan has a hive on their roof as I often see the boys buzzing off to Central Park in the spring mornings!
