Jim, Thanks for the updated information. Without your updates these changes would likely have been supposition to many like myself. I would have thought my taster is off! Very much appreciated!
On a side note - why in the world would the blenders change such once great products??? Clearly these changes are not for the better in any way! Very sad indeed.
K&K changed a great many blends. STG is no innocent producer either. Same goes for Germain's and G&H. I have more revised reviews in the Pipe Tobacco Review section if you haven't checked them out.

@Sigmund gave you a good answer.

reading this thread i realize, things haven't got any better.i've lost some good tobacco's over the last decades, and its going from bad to worse.so,what can we do ? Take our loss and keep searching. Filling up the cellar doesn't do much good either.maybe....some day ey :)

Thanks, Jim. I haven’t smoked 633 in a very long time. I was thinking of picking up a tin again, but your review — especially the notes about the changed Virginias and less flavorful Perique — made me reconsider. Sounds like it’s lost some of its former character.

Anyone tried any of the newer batches? How is the leaf quality? I can understand batch variations as long as its still quality.
I sometimes dip into current ABF; I've only smoked the modern iteration, but it tickles my fancy enough to restock. For me, it's important to keep its moisture as it loses appeal when bone dry. I never rub out, always fold and stuff, get the flavour level up.
