This goes on sale December 20th at 6 p.m. EST.

The fermented, toasty Italian dark fired Kentucky provides a wealth of herbs, smoke, earth, wood, fragrant floralness, peaty vegetation, spice, tangy mesquite, cigar, tart citrus, sourness some nuts, acidic vinegar and cocoa as the lead component. Not far behind it is the American dark fired Kentucky, which offers an abundance of smoke, spice, earth, wood, sweet barbecue, floralness, vegetative grass, peat, some herbs, bitter sourness, mild nuttiness, and a little vinegar. It’s strong and full in all aspects. It won’t bite or get harsh, but i does have some rough notes. The mildly moist flakes need no dry time. Deeply rich and savory, it burns cool, clean and slow with a very consistent tart and tangy sweet and bitterly sour, spicy, smokey, floral, herbal, mesquite flavor that extends to the long lasting, pleasant after taste. The room note is very pungent. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires a few more than an average number of relights. It’s definitely not an all day smoke, but it is repeatable. I recommend a small to no more than a medium size bowl. Four stars out of four.

Ordered 4 tins from SP on Friday. Was scheduled to be delivered by Friday, Dec 27th but arrived today as an early Xmas miracle! Am expecting to smoke some this evening, but after popping a tin and pulling some out to air dry, I can honestly say that this is one of the most intoxicating aromas I have encountered with pipe tobacco in a long time. As a long time Toscano Antico smoker, you immediately get that woody, earthy, spicy smell that is always prevalent when opening a pack of Anticos. Will report back once I have enjoyed a bowl, but I already have a feeling this one is going to be something special…
