I don't know why but prefacing the year with literally the word "year" makes this feels ChatGPTy for some reason.
I'll tell you why I do that. Several times a few years back when I just wrote the year number, I was asked what the number meant. I'll bet that I know what you're thinking, but the way I've done it since, I avoid answering that type of question.

No that's fair enough. Funny how even when you know a language there are so many regional, colloquial minutia that can trip you up!

Man, this stuff really wants to knock HH Burley out of my #1 spot.

My first bowl of it yesterday started off with a tangy sour note, but my second bowl today was just super smooth.

That subtle, tea-like floral sweetness with a light woody note... 🤌

We need more Burley blends like this instead of everyone trying to clone that nasty ABF chocolatey taste.

I am sitting on three tins and planned to cellar them all for 1 full year and crack one open fall of 2025 to give the Virginia components some maturing sans oxygen, but now I think I will have to open one up tonight and see what it has to offer. If it is a like, then I will add a couple more tins.

I opened a tin this weekend. Tin note is cocoa powder and baked desserts. Leaves are a bit sticky, as if from a topping (which I don't mind -- it smells great, without the "oh no I can't get the stinky cheese smell off my fingers" experience of some C&D blends). Smoking is easy and strength hits a comfortable midpoint between OTC "hot air" and C&D's more intense burley blends. It tastes better straight out of the tin than dried at about 40% ambient relative humidity for most of an hour.

Are the Orientals detectable?

JimInks’ review says the Orientals are in the lead and that’s my experience, as well. This particular combination of Orientals is excellent—the same one C&D uses in Steamworks. (For what it’s worth, I find it more prominent in Steamworks, which is one of my favorite blends.)

Here’s what JimInks had to say: “The year 2005 Sokhoum, Samsun and Katerini Orientals provide an abundance of herbs, floralness, earth, wood, incense, peaty vegetation, spice, sharp sourness, some zesty tart sweetness, and a mild smoky quality. They take a small lead.”

To me it was like Pegasus with additional Red Virginia. The Orientals are very light, but if you concentrate really hard you can find them. The note is more like black tea to me. Thats the most sophisticated analysis I can give. I wish I bought 5 more tins.
