Is this blend still limited to 400 tins? I thought I read somewhere that they upped it to 2,000 due to complaints from people not able to get any of the past two limited releases before sell-out. What's the current production status, sillyoldbear?

I have been smoking a pipe for a long time, like Jim. Mostly, my tobacco was the codger stuff. Jim introduced me to a whole new world out there that I never even thought of purchasing.
Now, I suppose I can blame him for a cellar that is big and wide. I trust Jim's reviews explicitly, and have now experienced some exquisite tobacco blends because of his reviews.
I do not purchase a blend without first reading Jim's reviews, either here, or on Tobaccoreviews.com
Thanks again, I think, Jim!

Thank you for the kind words, Tennsmoker. I'm glad to be of help even if your check book isn't speaking to me! :D

As an afterthought, I'm glad to see Carolina tobacco get some credit. Some of what is categorized as Virginia is grown in Carolina, and regional differences in soil and climate produce somewhat different tobaccos. This blend sounds quite nice. Another Carolina-named bulk tabacco is exceeding mild. This one sounds a little more flavorful and worthy.

I'm a relative newcomer to straight reds, but after getting my mind blown by some Xmas Cheer, I am really looking forward to trying this. However, my tins are going straight to the cellar for at least a couple of years before I crack the first tin. All this limited edition hubbub makes me thankful for the relative availability of McCranie's Red Flake

Thanks for the review. I picked up a couple tins on Friday. Do you think this will benefit from aging? I figured I'd age one and store the other in a mason jar for immediate consumption.

I think it's very good fresh, but I also believe it has great potential to get better with age.
