@mngslvs please do, I’d love to see it! Let us know how it smokes for you, as well. Apologies if you’ve already stated as much, but are you planning to use it for any particular blends? Or just smoke it and see what sort of blend/rhythm it falls into?
I've been told that British pipes smoke differently from Italian ( I paid nothing for that opinion), so I guess that is a good question. Truth is I'm not the connoisseur that some are on this site. At the moment 9 out of 10 smokes are one of three : Sutliff Va 507c , Solani 660, and Peretti #8 slices. So, yes Santa, there is always Virginia. For me.
@Jack T nice grab! I was looking at that pipe the other day. Very deep, unique rustication. Sort of unusual looking compared to every other Ashton I’ve seen! Let us know how it smokes when it comes in ???
They are an English pipe to covet. White Spots without the abusive pricing. Ashton's aren't inexpensive but you don't have to run them past a financial advisor either. If the stamps and stems were covered strategically, and I were given a choice, I suspect I'd end up with the Ashton.
I have three, a Pebble Grain X Bulldog, a Pebbe Grain X Belge and a Brindle XXX Chimney.
All great smokers, but I love the Bulldog best because it is very light and I dedicate it to flake tobacco.
You guys are all bastards!? All this wonderful talk about new era Ashtons made me visit SP for a perusal of their stock. No intention mind you of buying was in play. A blond Zulu had me mesmerized so I pulled the trigger on this...
