Japanese Mac Baren tins! Love it!
Yep. Mac Baren makes it for Japan Tobacco for distribution only in Japan. I figured out what's in the wooden box, Tsuge Kagayaki, Special Bright Virginia. Mysore, made in Germany. The other one must be Asuka, which is made by Mac Baren for Japan Tobacco and is an English blend with what one reviewer describes as a plum wine topping. Also picked up some pouches of Momoyama, a mixture of Virginia, Burley, Turkish, Perique with an involved topping of citrus, wine, caramel, fruit, etc. The last of these is pretty widely known as it was once upon a time available in the US, and is made by Japan Tobacco. Got 4 stars from jiminks and Pipestud

Nope, afraid not. I didn't learnabout that until after Max returned from Japan. Next trip.
if he can bring some back there are lots of us that would love to try it. Personally I feel like my Tsuge metal blowfish is basically a briar version of the classic kiseru pipe. (same dimensions) and is a great pipe but I feel like I really see what it's about if I get their super fine shag.

I use plug tobacco shaved super thin in my kiseru. I'd love to try some of the real stuff though!
