My prayers and thoughts go out to the poor people affected by this tragic event.

And, while my prayers travel thousands of miles, I'm going to go to the beach, set up a chair, and smoke a pipe while watching a tsunami tear up the Oregon coast.

Just saw it at 5 am here on the east coast when I got up.
I don't know if this has effected any of the people in the pipe hobby and business over there, but there are some in Japan.

Scary stuff on the pics and videos i've seen here. Have quite a few colleagues over there as i work for a Japanese company but it seems that the offices in Tokyo and the factory in Sendai (very near the Tsunami and quake) are all ok.
My heart goes out to anyone else caught up in this.

Just heard that Japan had a tsunami of 23 feet shortly after the quake. Hawaii is just getting the effects of it. Looks like the West Coast will see what happens around 8 AM here, 11 on the East Coast.

Just like the wave that hit Indonesia several years ago which they got on video...it sure doesn't look like a 23 ft. tall wave/wall of water.

looks like a pretty deep water going over the green houses on the farm, they are at least 8ft tall or more.

Chero, I would say that there's nothing to worry about on the so-called "supermoon". Considering that they say it's the closest in 18 years research tells me that there really weren't many big disasters in '93.

So I'd say we're probably going to be alright.
However the people in Japan are having a different turn of things. Thankfully deaths were in dozens and not hundreds, but my heart does go out to all those affected.

I am happy to say that I awoke to an email from my cousin in Tokyo stating that his family is alright, albeit separated. Something of a chilling reminder of just how overdue we are supposed to be for a big one here on the wet-coast.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those in Japan and other effected areas. I was stationed in Japan for a while, and I really learned to like the people there. Best wishes to those with friends and family there, I hope everyone is safe and secure.

I just heard from my family and friends in Morioka and most are displaced from their homes and shaken up but okay. My prayers go out to the families and businesses that have been effected by this disaster.
I had just convinced the wife to move back to Japan with me in 2012 last week. She is having second thoughts now.
