Al I noticed a very little off taste, a hint, I swabbed out the shank and got a very small amount of that Purple stain that I imagine was the culprit. Next bowl none, I am of the school in that I smoke the hell out of a new pipe for a week, letting my pipe cleaner after each smoke tell me the pipes story, pipe cleaner dry, load it up and fire away, little wet I rest it half a day then smoke it again. This one was a teeny bit. wet, I suspect the bowl coating did that. In 2 days I have smoked it 5 times and getting ready to fire it up tonight. It is not easy to clench this one as stem is thick, but that is what I wanted so I have to live with it's parameters , that being said I believe it will be one of my very favorites.

I'm with MLC, one of the best looking Cookes I've seen (in a very crowded field of great pipes).
Agreed. I really like that one -- color, texture, shape -- everything clicks together nicely. Hope she becomes a favorite for you.
