Iwan Ries visit

Stopped by Iwan Ries while in Chicago today. It’s actually the first time I’ve ever been in a pipe focused shop with cigars rather than the opposite …. Aside from Briarworks. I looked for something like this in NYC last month but didn’t have any luck so this as a cool surprise . Harry there spent an hour with me exploring new and estate Castellos, Gepetos, Don Carlos, Dunhills , etc…. And walking me through a tutorial of tip toeing out of aromatics.

Anyways just thought I’d post that it’s a pretty amazing time machine up there in Chicago. Worth a visit .

IR is the mother church of U.S. pipe shops, even more so now that Nat Sherman closed in Manhattan, and it is much older than Nat Sherman was.

It is indeed a great place to visit in person. I always try to get there when I get to go to Chicago.
