Some of you have heard how Iwan Ries will fulfill tobacco wish list requests like nobody else. Literally, no other online store that I know of, does this.
When you make a wish list selection, your order goes into a queue for that particular blend, and when it's available you get a notice, like this one:

Here's what's different. Iwan Ries doesn't just let you know that your selection is in, they also hold it for you for up to 4 days for you to make your purchase. Who else does that?

Because they are actually and for real, fulfilling every wish list order, instead of sending out a useless alert for a blend that disappears while it's in your cart, fulfillment can take several years as you move to the top of the queue. Eventually, you will get that unicorn.

The link on the notice takes you to a private entry version of their site where you buy your blend, while to the outside public, the blend appears to be out of stock.

And while you're in the private site you can pick up other available blends. In 2018, after about a 3 year wait, Iwan Ries contacted me about a request I had made for Penzance. To the outside world it looked like no Esoterica was in stock. In the private entry site, everything they actually had in stock was available for purchase. In addition to the Penzance I bought bags of Stonehaven, Dunbar, Dorchester, Tillbury, Hastings, etc.

Quite a score, at regular retail prices, about $30 a bag.

If you want to catch that unicorn, put it on your wish list at Iwan Ries, then forget about it while having a life, and at some point, years down the road when you get to the front of the queue, you'll have your opportunity.

I picked up 5 tins of Cabbies, which is Iwan Ries order limit (unlike other sites who don't care about spreading the joy) and it's on the way.

I was sitting on the patio this afternoon talking to my dad (kind of), he’s 95 and hit and miss on the comms. Regardless, I mentioned Iwan Ries and he was off! Kept trying to get across he bought all his pipe/tobacco stuff in Chicago.
Last time he bought pipe/pipe tobacco was the mid-seventies, btw.
That’s making an impression on your customers!

old style customer service, but it wont do for the "I want it and I want it now" brigade that seem to be the norm these days:)

At least you will get a chance to buy your unobtainable in the end. It's a pity more sellers dont use this method, but I guess its easier to just send out a bulk e-mail.
