I'm really interested in Search Engine Optimization.
I used to travel the country putting on seminars about it. Follow my blog, and there will be some tidbits here and there on SEO.
Going off topic from the thread, but it's my ball so ...
I went to a Social Media Marketing seminar last year. It was actually pretty good, better than expected. However, here's two interesting things -
1. Before it started, while we were mingling, having coffee, they announced that we should feel free to talk to the presenters prior to the start, in case some questions popped up that they could be sure to answer.
So, I did.
Five minutes into the conversation, the guy stopped me and said; "You are way over my head. I don't know what you are talking about."
2. Although I concede that the seminar was good, 90% of what they talked about was actually SEO, but they didn't call it SEO, they called Social Media Marketing.
Why?
Because SEO is sooo 5-minutes ago, and Social Media Marketing is the phrases all the cool kids in school are using, which was part of what I was referring to in an earlier comment ...
What I don't like is all the hype, BS, buzzwords, and poseur / wannabes - flavor-of-the-month crapola.
