I enjoyed your reply to my blog response, Kevin.
Overall, the idea of social media and networking doesn't really bother me. It's that the growing interest in those mediums seems to be killing basic forms of communication, namely our use of language. In high school, we read
1984, and I found it both hilarious and ridiculous the notion that we would ever communicate via an imbecilic, condensed language that removes any eloquence and style from speech and/or writing.
Unfortunately, it's happening, and I don't find it so humorous any longer. Just sad. Really, I use Facebook for a news metasource. Occasionally, I'll throw my thoughts out there if for no other reason than to amuse myself. I don't tweet. I don't Google+.
