Windchill applies only to bare skin--I.e. The rate at which your skin would give up heat, so that the skin on your face would feel as if it were the lower temperature. For your bundled up body, it doesn't matter.

Two inches of snow in Atlanta and my flight to Atlanta and on to Cozumel are cancelled! I hate snow and I hate winter! Arizona seems to be getting the best weather. I should move there.

-14 F in north central Ohio at the moment. I went walking last night for about 2 miles. It was -4 then. It's not terrible if you're dressed with the proper gear and moving to generate some body heat. Like puffy says cold is relative.

It was brisk, ogre, that's for sure.
Trailboss, if you can find a propane heater that works at -45 please let me know. Propane is a liquid at that temp, so no vapor means no heat.

Some weeks after this thread started, back in North Carolina, rows of daffodils are blooming.

But we're not smug. I've seen it snow on April 1 here in the sunny South.

Okay. So yesterday I went ice fishing. -28 at dawn.

Still 3.5 feet of ice to auger through to get to water.

The winter that went on forever...

And he caught 300 pounds of ice!

And his wife nearly drowned trying to cook it!

In the PNW, over 15" of rain during February/March - twice the normal accumulation. I went out on the deck and notice that moss was starting to grow on my newly painted house (at least the house is green).
