I'm not sure why, other than simple curiosity, people want to put a cost to everything, especially enjoyment. My late wife once figured the first couple of fish caught off the new boat was $1900.00 per pound. But, she couldn't tell me why that was important to her.
I'm a want a boat, buy a boat kinda guy.

Hear hear! I agree! It’s even better when ya get all the buying out of the way as early on as possible, then you forget about all the money that was spent and just enjoy what ya got.

Boy, aint that the truth. I'm at a place now, where all I really need to do is load up and puff away. No need for anything more and can just direct the ocd in another direction. Staying off certain websites helps too.

I enjoy my pipes even when I am not smoking them. Watch a movie, reading a book or even just driving in the car, I usually have a pipe in hand. Something about the beauty of well finished briar wood is relaxing and contemplative to me.

At one time I was in accounting and in charge of company manpower, efficiency, and expenditures. Bean counting became a compulsion and I do it to this day without even thinking about it. On a positive note, it has allowed me to set aside large amounts of finances to pursue silly interests so it's sort of a win. :mrgreen:

It’s amazing how much cheaper pipe smoking is than cigars. It drives me nuts to pay $15-20+ on a single cigar when I can get a tin of pipe tobacco for the same.

Yeah compared to cigars, cigarettes, or alcohol my enjoyment of pipe tobacco is a steal. After I quit cigarettes I figured as long as my cost per year was less with pipe tobacco than it was with cigarettes then I was being healthier and coming out ahead financially. My lungs are much healthier now and my wallet thanks me as well.

Cigar costs was one of the primary reasons I decided to try pipe smoking years ago. Then when I discovered how much more I enjoyed it, there was no looking back.
Even factoring in the cost of the pipes, it's still a lot less expensive than cigars in the long run (depending on how severe a case of PAD one has I suppose).

I think I've cured my PAD and TAD. After a spirited discussion with my wife, I realized that a divorce was much more expensive than additional pipes and tobacco.
