Interesting. I hadn’t looked at what the actual translation may have been and rather assumed it was from Vienna as that is where the high class meers came from back then.

I have no idea who made that pipe and I have not come across anything Italian in ancient meerschaum world in my travels. That is not to say it doesn't exist. I will be interested to see if anyone turns up anything about this particular pipe.

I could find no evidence Vaccari was a pipe-maker. I extrapolate that he had this pipe commissioned, possibly to promote his business as an importer/exporter."
