It Was Still Funny

I know very well it is inevitable that I will one day be confounded by some everyday bit of technology.

That being said, it was still funny as hell when my 79 y/o mother showed me photos of QR codes, saying “I took pictures of them, but nothing happened.”

I'm almost 35, grew up with technology, and I just learned that you DONT take pictures of them. And apparently you don't even need a qr code reader anymore lol.

I understand that one completely. Though my mother is 71, she's up to date on all tech and it's use, my only internet access has always been a phone. I have very little internet presence myself and will likely downgrade to a flip phone at some point. Net surfing has become stagnant.

My 85 year old dad is ridiculously into tech and loves his Iphone.
He almost never calls anymore, he texts every day.
After my mom died in 2021, my dad spends a lot of time on the computer out of boredom.
He was a school teacher for over 50 years, so he learned computers back in the late 80s and 90s.
Last year he bought a $4000 computer so he could play his extremely detailed military strategy games and other RPGs......thats roll playing games for you old foggies.

I still have to show them how to work a tv remote, rewind,fast forward and record. I couldn't handle showing them a phone

My mother watches Turkish soap operas on the satanic mobile phone, she doesn't use the TV anymore. Technology makes life more comfortable, but, damn it, I was happier in the eighties without these gadgets.

My phone doesn't natively scan QR codes in the camera app and I've tried Google Lens and still nothing

Ok I show them how to use a remote controller to use the tv and trying using a phone....I have a problem with losing my phone, I end up searching everywhere for it.
