Up until this past year I’d never had a bulldog. I decided about 2 years ago that I wanted to add one to my collection.
I set myself a few requirements. 1. Ser Jacopo. 2. Couldn’t be HUGE. 3. Smooth finish. 4. Silver accent. 5. It had to be an estate.
I checked SP.com 2x week for about 2 years before this guy popped up in December. I almost didn’t grab it bc I had gotten myself a SJ bulldog from AlPascia several months ago but that one didn’t meet the above guidelines (even though I love it) and this one did PERFECTLY. After hesitating for a day or two I pulled the trigger. I’m giving it an inaugural smoke this morning with some 17 year old Irish Flake.

Most SJ bulldogs are pretty big and less classically shaped—typical Italian aesthetic. But this one is pretty typical and fits well enough in my collection. I shoot for pretty modestly sized Ser Jacopos. It’s got a nice open draw like you’d expect. The stem is very loose but I figure that will correct itself with some smoking.
