OK, I was in the mood to try a variation on an Eskimo, but the briar had a completely different idea. As soon as I turned the top on the lathe, a flaw reared it's ugly head...and then I started chasing it and ended up in a completely different direction...This is one of those strange cases where I like the shape, but there are still a couple of minor flaws that will probably result in this ending up as a shop pipe...or one of my first experiments when I start doing partial sandblasts....or a Christmas gift...

IMHO I think this is a great looking pipe. LIke Roth said consider putting it up on Briarbid

Bradley,
I think I need to come up with a design to celebrate your Cajun Roots...Might call it the "Mudbug" or "Crawfish"
Guys, Thanks for the comments on the design- I might try some variations off that design- I tend to like nice, flowing shapes...

That turned out great, Zack. I would love a Christmas gift like that.

Thanks Guys! Looked at it some more over a glass of wine last night- this one will go on the shelf for eventual sandblasting in a couple of areas- should be interesting combination of the bold grain and sandblasted panels. I'm holding off adding sandblasting until after the West Coast Pipe Show- it takes so much time just to set up new equipment, much less the time to try to master the techniques involved.
It looks everything I'm doing for the Vegas Show in November will be smooths. If I can walk in with twenty quality pipes, I'll be satisfied....
Time to head to the shop- have some nice black bamboo that's begging to be cut....

It may have started out as a Eskimo, but it sure turned out to be a fine looking pipe. Your ability to make changes when a problem occured, and then turn the problem into a work of art, is nothing but professional. :puffy:
