One of my all time favorite movie quotes from the movie Arthur.
I feel blessed to be able to say that this quote sums up perfectly how I and many of my friends and family feel.
We were fortunate enough to have moved to Pinehurst NC about 13 years ago. A really quaint little community with very very low crime rate. Voted the number one town to live in here in NC for the last two years. Though about half of the population here is retired, there are more and more families moving here every year. When we moved here the population was around 8,500 or so folks. It's now over 14,000, admittedly part of that population growth was through the annexation of a country club that was on and now is in the city limits. We have something like 40 or 45 golf courses in a 15 or 20 mile radius.
The weather here is pretty much ideal. A month or so of hot sticky weather in the summer, a month or so of cold wet in the winter but all in all very livable.
The reason for my post is not to brag but to give thanks and appreciation for having the opportunity to live in and raise my kids in an idyllic setting.
I think what prompted it was the appreciation for the simple pleasures that many out there either don't have or don't realize they do.
Being Friday, I knocked off early and sent my guys home to be with their families. I found my way up to my mancave, fired up youtube on the tv and am listening to Blues Beatles, stuffed an estate Clubman Bent Billiard with FM Across the Pond, filled a glass with Blantons, a splash of H2O and a couple of bergs, opened the windows and fired up the laptop and hopped on here to see what's goin on in the land of the briar. After confirming tee times for Sat & Sunday first of course.
My son Nick, my pipe pal, is down in the kitchen makin a couple of home made pizzas, finding his way in between to enjoy a bowl Black Cavendish in the rusticated Bent Bulldog I just finished refurbing for him. My baby, Jenn, is down on the back deck with her boyfriend and her dog Hank, all three sitting in a glider bench. The Blond, my wife Cindy, is enjoying a glass of wine and talkin on the phone to her mom back in OKC.
yup, all in all..... It Doesn't Suck
Cheers folks
Hope ya'll have a great weekend.
