I was looking at them at the other forum this morning. They seem legit. It’s pretty awesome to learn what so many people speculated was a Wellington all these years is a Plymouth—this is a detail that that I found delightful. The screen matched shots ate compelling. I love it.
Still no real documentation. He showed a script but copies of those can be bought. The photos may be photo shopped or photos of a pipe belonging to someone else. Hell, it could even be AI these days like my wife in Egypt.

So, you think he's spent significant time, effort, and money on a Big Fake-Out of some sort?

What would be the payoff?

Fame among the 21st century's remaining pipe smokers on an Internet forum?

Riches? Meaning a few hundred dollars?

The guy professes to be a collector of western movie memorabilia. What other kind of person is more likely to have stuff like this? A scammer would say we were all right and show us a Wellington.
And I asked about the Ropp La Montagnarde and he said he has one of Lee’s but it didn’t see screen time. A scammer would just say, Yup, here it is.

I looked at the images from the films and the pipes and that image that shows the two gashes convinces me. By his own account, he's primarily a collector of movie memorabilia, not a collector of pipes, a different world. So, his attitude at being questioned doesn't surprise me. Possibly, he's well known in movie memorabilia world. We all have our little ephemeral spheres. We just sometimes forget that it's little and ephemeral.

There is a lot to chew on here.

First, ....Plymouth of France. Who saw that coming.
Second... The clear pictures of the Meerschaum. All the reproductions of the LVC suddenly have to be questioned ... yikes, I guess reproductions need to be African Meerschaum...lol.. IDK.
Third... I love the Sasieni - nice to get some clear pictures of it as well.

Also, the dialog in the script showed how lines were shortened to give LVC a more gritty and succinct manner of talking. I found that interesting as well.

Regardless, I am delighted that these pipes are still around and that the owner thought to share them with us. I'd love to see him come to the Pipe Smoking convention and share his story.

What Sean may not have been prepared for is that the two pipes he has have been long questioned as to their whereabouts. It's like someone saying, "Oh, but the way, I have the Nina in dry dock down by the harbor." WTF. But yes, I agree, these are the pipes and I for one am thankful that they are in the hands of someone who will take care of them for future generations of movie buffs and pipe smokers. As a fan of pipes from the movies, I would feel the same way if I came across the pipe Bing smoked in Holiday Inn. I have reproductions of that pipe, the LVC Meer, and the one from the G, B,&U. Yeh, I am a bit of a movie and pipe buff.

Movie memorabilia collectors, the ones that I've met, are very passionate about their particular interest at whatever level, from the few hundreds to the millions of dollars. It's a lot less relaxed than pipe collectors.

I never got into memorabilia, and dumped of thousands of dollars worth of stuff when I moved. I just didn't want all of that stuff. I kept the things that have a personal meaning for me, like the special version of the House Of Blues jacket that Dan Aykroyd gifted me when we worked on Coneheads, TRON background paintings, and other personal items. When I'm gone it will probably get the toss as well.

The pipes that Van Cleef used as props in his movies were his own. He used them cause it made his pipe smoking more authentic and believable. I appreciated his pipes and the effortless way he smoked on screen. Those who possess them should consider themselves fortunate and honored to be their custodian. ☕

The interactions between Colonel Mortimer and the hunchback are among the most memorable scenes from FAFDM. No doubt that meer has the distinction of being the only pipe ever lit with a match struck off a hunchback.

And you can tell Lee knew pipes, because he used his meer as a good guy, and the briar as a bad guy.

I actually have it's called clout and aura farming. I'm just asking for evidence more than "Because I said so" like official appraisal documentation so shove the snarky attitude up your ass.

Since my account was approved on here, I'm going to share the pipes on this forum as well.

To the people that have been supportive, I appreciate you all.

To the people speaking on my attitude. You try having many people be rude while all I wanted to do was show these things to people that I felt deserved to know they existed. I did it to be nice, not to deal with blatant ignorance after giving as much proof as I can that these pipes are one million percent the real deal.

For those excited about the prospect, I hope all is as told.

You have to realize that the internet is full of story tellers, and these forums are no exception. The burden of proof is high for some, seemingly less for others. People come here and go on a spin just for fun and no personal gain.

Few months back there was the guy who claimed he was helping flood victims.

Before that there was a guy spinning a tale about his engagement and upcoming wedding with all sorts of fake photos (thread since deleted).

Some people like to show off fake tobacco cellars.

You get the idea.

I don't know man, if it were me showing off Lee's pipe's I really wouldn't give two shits if random pipe smoking internet weirdo's believed they were the real deal.

How much did they cost if you don't mind me asking?
