Title edited. Rule 9, please.

Greetings people!

I have been searching for a vintage Peterson Belgique pipe for a while now with no avail. The ones with a military stem style. I really fancied those and have never found them on Ebay, at least in past couple of months. There are more rare dunhill's, Bill Taylor Ashtons, even pretty rare Peterson shapes such as an unsmoked 450 came up in the past month but a simple vintage Belgique never came to exist for a while. Is there a reason for their rarity that I am missing? Any other websites that would put up estate pipes that I could look for? Really eyeing that pipe for a while and came her for any information or help since I became a little confused on how little that pipe comes up on the estate market in Ebay or evening in smokingpipes.com.

The Peterson Belgique I have is the smallest pipe I own, a definite Group 1. It's good for a very quick smoke, sampling blends, or a little longer smoke with flake, coin, plug, or rope.

Is the pipe you are looking for this very small one? Or has the Belgique moniker been used in the past for medium or larger pipes? I'm not interested in selling mine. I was just wondering if the Belgique nomenclature is consistent if you are shopping for these.

Mine is not a military mount and has no band. Just a rusticated straight thin stemmed more-or-less billiard shape with a saddle stem. It weighs less an 1 oz. and has a slightly forward canted bowl.

To see the current Belgique line, to compare what it is and what it was, SP web pages on Peterson have a search products box where you can type in Belgique and see the three current models available. One of those categories is all churchwardens, but the other two are regular length Group 1 pipes with alternate finishes. They both have metal bands. They do not offer the unbanded version I have, and I don't see any military mounts.

One more suggestion. Since you are shopping for an estate pipe from the past, you might want to touch base with Iwan Ries in Chicago. They post a small portion of their inventory online. They purport to have about 15,000 pipes in inventory, so they could have the one you're looking for. You could give them a call, expecting to give them time to call you back after they've checked their archives.

I haven't looked at their site for some months, but UK retailer Harrison and Simmonds had some.
I've bought several Petes from them. Very prompt service and short delivery times, even during the height of COVID.
I have in fact bought from them previously and they are excellent, but they sell newer Petersons and never have any estate pipes. I am looking for the vintage, military style stem Belgique pipes in relatively good condition.

Hey there! first off, yes that group 1 Peterson Belgique. The one I am looking for is an original, I believe dates back to the 1990's & before in which the style they used was a military stem style instead of a normal tenon which I prefer. They usually have a vulcanite band too, which gives it a unique style and in my eye a more pleasing one.

I am looking for something that is exceptionally light since my jaw tends to get tired throughout smoking through the day. Having a small pipe to smoke some flakes and coins in between my smokes would be great. I already have the older versions of the specialty Calabash & Tankard, albeit the Tankard is a little heavier but still weighs under 30 grams I believe while the Calabash probably weighs under 15 grams.

The original ones also tend to be more pocketable and easier to carry without a tenon potentially breaking (which actually have happened to me with a expensive delicate pipe) and they are small enough to carry without much fuss which I like.

Iwan Ries? could you shoot me a DM and send me some of his contact information? if possible an email since I live abroad and I would like for him to ship me the pipe if he has one. Thank you for the Info!
