I have one of these and I am really happy with it. I only smoke or almost only smoke strong blends in it. But it does give a 20 minute smoke and is a great smoker all around. And also really tough too.
I would recommend the Ropp Etudiant. I have recently taken to using them for va flakes and they’re awesome. I regularly smoke a j07, a j03, and I have a brand new j22 on the way. They have a wide variety of shapes and very comfortable stems. If sandblast is your jam their sandblasting is beautiful as well. If these were newer production pipes they’d surely be in the 70-90 range, but because they’re made of old stock stummels that we just lying around in warehouses, they’re sold for 45-55.

I second the Dunhill suggestion. Group 1 or 2 will serve you well
Altinay meerschaums are usually on the smaller side. His communications are also great, you can ask him directly for a smaller bowl.
I second the Ropp Etudiant line. Nice well made small pipes that wont break the bank
The little Ropp pipes are a great value and smoke well.
And there's no shame in filling half or 2/3, or a full bowl, smoke half, and the other half later. (Tobacco must not be wet)
PC currently has a Stanwell featherweight on sale for $39.99, a pot with a .6 " diameter chamber, .9" deep. It seems to be a compact lightweight pipe that might be what you are looking for. MSRP is around 80 USD.
