Thanks for your concern and glad you love the Tobacco .No, not an issue at all Mr. Brandt. I made the post out of concern for Wilke, not myself.
Love the stuff you have over there, and would hate to see anything happen to Wilke.

Agreed on the peanut butter. Great stuff!I have been a Wilke customer since the early days of Pipeworks and Wilke in Vermont. I think John does a great job, even though he won’t mail to MassachusettsPS: I like Peanut Butter.
Truth.I love their 515, I have rum cake on the way, I haven’t found anywhere else that has a remotely tasty rum flavoring like Wilke does
essentially that is going on.So they are basically selling stuff that they don't have?
An update because I don’t remember if I posted one to the thread, but I did get my rumcake in, and it was delicious. Glad I bought a good bit.essentially that is going on.
SOME may be selling enough to go ahead and actually get the raw leaf to make into the blends that need it.
SOME may just be having issues with getting the stuff they repackage as their own labelled stuff. I had an email message chain from earlier this year with someone at Wilke, and was told that certain blends like the blood orange line and a good number of orientals would be erratic on hand status due to not being able to buy them for sale.
yeah but one thing that i forgot, was that the only oriental blend they could actually make any promise on through the end of august was 111. all others were bets off.An update because I don’t remember if I posted one to the thread, but I did get my rumcake in, and it was delicious. If you'd read just a few up you'd have seen that John ("someone" at Wilke) was kind enough to pop in a few weeks ago and already explain that this year has been a challenge for getting tobacco. Wilke isn't getting "stuff" it's repackaging as it own "labelled stuff".essentially that is going on.

And peretti does a complete repackage and relabel for some of its flakes. so the mystique of some of these brands is going the way of the "oh what, you mean im smoking relablled sutliff/lane when i get my local tobacco stores custom blend?"This sure sounds like one of those cases where the blender used Sutliff leaf, the supply of which has now fairly well dried up, and there just isn't any replacement for it. Watch City, Boswell, Peretti, Country Squire, Ravenwood, and Ken Byron Ventures are all in the same boat where the supply of leaf for many if not all of their blends is simply gone now.
Which LJ Peretti blends are simple relabels? And peretti does a complete repackage and relabel for some of its flakes. so the mystique of some of these brands is going the way of the "oh what, you mean im smoking relablled sutliff/lane when i get my local tobacco stores custom blend?"
McClelland and Sutliff made flakes for them, since they didn't have the manufacturing equipment. That's not the same thing as relabeling.Which LJ Peretti blends are simple relabels?
I'm pretty sure you make this stuff up as you go alongAnd peretti does a complete repackage and relabel for some of its flakes. so the mystique of some of these brands is going the way of the "oh what, you mean im smoking relablled sutliff/lane when i get my local tobacco stores custom blend?"
lolI'm pretty sure you make this stuff up as you go along
Edit, wel!, that didn't take longBa-Bye

Wow! You’re a very patient and kind person. So what is the big picture here ? I don't mean to sound like an alarmist , but are Wike, Perretti , etc circling the bowl ?
I ordered $450 worth of tobacco Nov 12th & am getting nervous.......
Well , I'm not saying there's anything untoward here , just concerned about the delay .Wow! You’re a very patient and kind person.
Couldn’t be me.
I’m sending emails and making phone calls if I don’t see my shit within 1 week of ordering.
Exactly!McClelland and Sutliff made flakes for them, since they didn't have the manufacturing equipment. That's not the same thing as relabeling.
Very well may be fallout and it's been referenced/acknowledged already in this thread, but both operations are easily available by telephone and would no doubt answer any questions about your orders you may have or gladly refund your payment --- don't see the point in comments like "circling the bowl" as if not fulfilling your orders justifies the implication they may be going out of business - just a thought on this Christmas Eve and season of goodwill! Merry Christmas.Well , I'm not saying there's anything untoward here , just concerned about the delay .
AND , I'm wondering if we're seeing fallout from the Sutliff debacle ............
LOL. maybe an option needed is "should leave" vs. "can't leave" for our little tags. He's been jumping thread to thread just to piss on a couple of blenders with outstanding reputations.I'm pretty sure you make this stuff up as you go along

OK , I may have have gotten carried away in expressing myself , but with Sutliff disappearing , it seems logical to question the sustainability of domestic pipe tobacco retailing .Very well may be fallout and it's been referenced/acknowledged already in this thread, but both operations are easily available by telephone and would no doubt answer any questions about your orders you may have or gladly refund your payment --- don't see the point in comments like "circling the bowl" as if not fulfilling your orders justifies the implication they may be going out of business - just a thought on this Christmas Eve and season of goodwill!
