Pipes of that era with inserts, filters and such are considered gadget pipes and there is a small contingent of collectors that attend the pipe shows. I have seen those Aristocob sets in unsmoked condition sell for as much as $50. And used sets for less. Nice find, and since you say one bowl is already been smoked, light it up and give us a report on whether you enjoy it or not. Experience is the best teacher.

Enjoy

I collect the gadget metal pipes and have several examples. I do have one of those, but only with the insert that is in it.
My guess, worth whatever you can get someone to pay for it. I'd say worth probably $30-$40 if you find someone looking for one for their collection. (Again, just a guess)

Worthpoint will tell you what they have sold for. I have seen them on ebay going for a fair amount without the box and inserts. I have two that I just haven't gotten around to getting rid of yet.

That sure is an oddity. I kinda like it... in theory.
Anyone got a diamond encrusted corn cob pipe?
Thanks for sharing.

Those things are Dangerous! Get your friend's and send them both to me. I'll make sure they are kept where they can never harm anyone (in my collection).
Kidding, of course, they are very cool. And I have a '55 Kaywoodie that is very cool too. Haven't figured out how to put Pee Wee Herman whitewalls on it yet, though. Hellz yeah, '50s stuff rocks!

Slightly off topic, but here's a site devoted to retro metal smoking pipes.
