Hello fellow pipers, I purchased this pipe for $10 at a local antique shop. I did some light restoration and am looking for some information. It is a billiard shape with a very long, oval shank with a short stem. It is surprisingly easy to clench and a great smoker.
This is the nomenclature on the pipe.
Maitre~Piper, A. Saint Claude, diamanté, 13G3, Made In France.

Is this considered a Lumberman? Do any of you have any experience with this brand/type of pipe? Just looking for any info I can get.

Yeah lose the softee bit. All of my Lumberman’s and Canadians have flat bottoms so they are also sitters but it is not a requirement for them, just a often incorporated nicety.
Alternatively, keep the softy bit. Smoke how you want and use whatever implements make it more enjoyable/comfortable.
