Well I asked my girlfriend if she verified the authenticity of the 1970 ODA Bruyere before she so graciously gave it to me. She said no and that she wasn't aware of the Dunhill test at the time. She says I should administer the test myself to be sure. My momma raised me with manners so I'll just not look a gift horse in the mouth and be happy with my ODA real or not. :D
That is a good looking bulldog owl.

Mike, your girlfriend must think you are hanging out with a bunch of wacko's. I can picture her face when you asked he about the test. lol Also an ODA will produce a baritone voice where as a group 1 is like a soprano.
oowl, sorry for the threadjack. My gut says it is a real one and that the rest of the nomenclature was just buffed off, it does look very old and I have seen a ton of Dunhills like that with most of the writings buffed off. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It does look like a nice classic Dunhill.

Cigrmaster, just saw this now. You guys are too funny. I think I'll just stick to putting the pipe in my face (although, I've been told at times that people can't see the difference of one of my ends to the other), otherwise, I think I"ll run the risk of offending those around me should I decide to snork. :puffy:
Also, even if I smoke this out of the right end, and then still start speaking with a British accent, wouldn't that make me an ass anyway? haha (just cracked myself up)
Thanks for all the info, fellas (and the laughs), and I will definitely keeps you posted when I get this to let you know if it's the real deal or not (or somewhere in between).
"Ghosting"...haha...HOW DROLL!...oh, it's starting already...

Ya know... there's a lot quicker way. This little item from the late 19th Century is for a "Tobacco

Smoke Enema". The procedure was used to treat gut pain, and attempts were often made to resuscitate victims of near drowning. (Drowning in Scotch I'm sure). To physicians of the time, the appropriate treatment for "apparent death" was warmth and stimulation. Anne Greene, a woman sentenced to death and hanged in 1650 for the supposed murder of her stillborn child, was found by anatomists to be still alive. They revived her by pouring hot cordial down her throat, rubbing her limbs and extremities, bleeding her, applying heating plasters and a "heating odoriferous Clyster to be cast up in her body, to give heat and warmth to her bowels." After placing her in a warm bed with another woman, to keep her warm, she recovered fully and was pardoned....
I believe a better use could be found for that pipe sorringowl, real Dunhill or not. I'd smoke It!

Just to clear things up, I am not a Dunhill expert. I have a lot of them, but am not a scholar of pipesmoking, just a smoker. I do not know if that pipe is genuine.

It's probably more legit than this one that just went for $26+shipping.
