Does anyone know if dunhill made a patent pipe stamped dunhill with a small d +pat no. 41751022 last digits unreadable

I've never seen a Dunhill with that dunhill logo. I vote no, but I am no expert. Stem looks older (and gross)

That stem doesn't appear to fit the shank well (and has a nibble out of the button). I'd like to see a better picture of the nomenclature.
That Patent Number is not shown on this RD Field dating guide(I assume that is a Bruyere finish).

I'll wait to a more knowledgeable collector to respond. I don't know who has the skill/tools to fake a Dunhill patent number these days. I suspect the guys who could are no longer with us. I always think if they had the skills to put on a Patent number, wouldn't they know to put on accurate numbers, etc.?

I'm no expert, But I would say that the pipe is a fake. As Al stated, that patent Number is non-existent in the literature. That font used on this "dunhill" (Long tails) wasn't used until 1995, and then it was always in an oval. Here's one sold by the same seller, last month. This one has a patent number that is close but the last "5" should be a "4". Also there is no "Made in England"......... Also no white dot on this one, button looks off..........I'd say buyer beware..... ::

I agree, and this could be the first fake I have seen. I am confused why someone would 'grind the oval off the modern Dunhill stamp'?

Looking at the stamping from the Dunhill sold last month,it could have been a stamp used for another dunhill product like pipe pouch/leather goods. the mouthpiece on this one is nothing to do with dunhill and the shape does not look typical either.

I agree. That pipe looks to have a screw in fitment on the stem too....... And the patent No. font is very odd. I doubt the seller is faking these, my guess is he's acquired them (car/yard/estate sales) and reselling them. The stummels look the part though, shapewise, the recent pipe more so.....

@beefeater: Nice job on the other Dunhill by that seller, what Patent No stamp is definitely bogus to my eyes.

And the stem does appear to be a screw in style.

Looking back at the completed ebay listing, I can't believe someone paid the US equivalent of $40 for that one. PT Barnum is always right.

Yes, I agree. I also have heard that there are quite a few collectors that collect fake Dunhills........ I guess there is a market for anything. ::
