Is there a 10mm filter? - Mastro De Paja Special Pesaro Gigante

I recently bought an estate Mastro De Paja Special Pesaro Gigante pipe and it is built for a filter, but when I tossed in my Obetis 9mm filter, there is a gap and it slides around. Not a huge gap, but it appears to be a 10mm hole. I haven't ever seen anything like this and not finding much information online yet about this particular pipe. Thanks for any information or ideas!

Its normal to have space around it. When it absorbs moisture it expands. If it were tight it would get stuck.

Chances are your filter is smaller than 9mm and the filter hole 8.8

Id suggest if you use an activated charcoal filter to only use it twice max.

Thanks for the advice. It just threw me, as it was substantially larger hole than any other 9mm stem I currently have. Thought I was missing something. I will give it a smoke and see how it does.

Everything worked out just fine with filter as you suspected. Still looser than any of my other 9mm filtered stems and a lot of coloring went around the Obetis filter. Just a little different. Thanks for the advice!

Yes, different makers use slightly different filter receivers on their pipes. My Ser Jacopo are pretty big. They will take any 9mm filter. My kai Nielsens will only take a vauen design. Some others are too big.

I like some space around the filter. Yes, you are not getting total carbon filtration but you still get the flow around effect of cleaning and drying. The draw remains free and you get a larger mix of flavors.
