Ive been pipesmoking for over 15 yrs and had tried everything I thought. That is until my father retired and tried to take it up. He did some research and got SPC's plum pudding Special Reserve and after breaking his meerschaum, left the tin with me.
Of course I'd heard of it, but i shy away from anything with perique unless im in a particularly froggy mood. I'm a staunch English/Oriental enthusiast.
Well good heavens... Its the single best blend (HANDS. DOWN.) ive ever smoked. I immediately bought a few tins in its various iterations, but haven't stocked up. Its so pricey i only enjoy a bowl every now and then.
However (to get to the point), i just read regretfully, that Joe Lankford passed away last year. Is this cause for concern of any future production halts or alterations? Or are we only buying what he had already blended?
I did just order some tins of other similar SPC blends to see if they are as good to me as plum pudding SR.
