Yes, worry. Send me all your RY!!! Post haste!!!
I'm smoking a bowl now. It won't ghost a pipe, although you may taste it a slight essence of it for a bowl or two if you smoke something else in the pipe afterward. I avoid that by reaming the bowl first. No problems.

I personally love the abomanation that is royal yuck. It is a great blend with a lot of flavor, although i would not consider it an aromatic by any means, but that is just my opinion. It is very nic heavy and should be approached with caution if you are sensitive to nicotine high blends, but it is a very satisfying and full blend by Dunhill.

Sorry to come off with absolutes, or if I sounded pretentious or an ass or like I was putting people's choices down....btw, zekest, I'm not trying be like any of you or prove anything, just asking a question about RY being an aromatic (at least that's how it is marketed in some places) and going from my ignorant idea of what aromatic means and things I have read about those blends. Obviously I know squat about them as I have never smoked one, and I am sure that they are wonderful for those who enjoy them and perhaps I'l try one just to see and thanks to all of the aromatic smokers, no offense to you intended.....rock on. My thought was that aromatics are flavored blends, sort of like a flavored coffee or flavored vodka or flavored whiskey, and I know that I have smelled people smoking them before, a heavy chocolate or other aroma with the tobacco aroma, and I personally like to indulge in things that are in a pure state, but that's just me, but it's all a bunch of smoke with unhealthy chemicals anyway, pure or not, so I guess the purity thing may be a moot point. Thank you for your responses, I have learned something. Sounds like RY is worth trying.

Cheers

kane: You deserve thanks for your post. You got it started and now we are simply running with it. This is a civil discussion where very few of us know what we are talking about and make no excuses for our ignorant ramblings. If you haven't figured it out, "Royal Yacht" is indeed an aromatic to some and not to others. No one's opinion will be changed and the same disagreement will arise again and again.
It's all in good clean fun!

I love The Royak Yacht. Aromatic? That's a wide net. But at the end of the day, all that matters is whether you like it, and whether it gives you pleasure. You could categorize The Royal Yacht as "dog shit" and I would still love it. Many of the best tobacco blends defy easy categorization. Maybe that's why they're among the best.

I hear ya, Warren. Thank you. I've learned a lot from you good folks, and I am loving the pipe and the journey . I am quickly getting that the world of pipe tobacco is monumental in scope, and I see that's it's best not to get boxed in by the labels. Thanks for indulging these questions. This is a good place. I've been into the English stuff, but it's cool how the individual constituents in blends can segue from one family to the next....like tobacco kin. I will say that when I tried Mississippi River I thought that it might be what a really fine aromatic is. Plus it made my room smell like ketchup.

Not smoked RY, but I do regularly smoke MacB Plumcake. It is listed as an English aro, and I love it. By far not an aro smoker, but Plumcake really hits the spot, and have yet to have it leave a ghost. Going to have to pick up some RY just to see how it compares.

My opinion on Royal Yacht has not really changed much over the years. When I met a fellow forum member in London last week for a few beers I had left my pipe at the place I was staying along with my tobacco as there is so little opportunity to smoke in London these days. He generously lent me one of his spare pipes for the evening along with a fill of a rather interesting flake thats name escapes me at present. This made me think that sometimes I can be a little harsh on the things our US 'cousins' smoke as in the final analysis we Brit's have been spoiled rotten with our choices of OTC brands we can purchase from any reasonable tobacconist. With all that said 'Royal Yuck' does not fall into that category. It is something that exists between death and life. I used to think it was an aromatic but then stuff like Clan are true aromatics whilst this stuff is just truly strange. It has one of the oddest room notes and tastes of anything I have ever encountered and the last tin that went through my hands was a twenty year old tin that I sent to some chap on this forum because I just wasn't the least interested in opening the thing and mixing it with Condor! Apparently he thought it was fantastic so I guess I am in a minority on my opinions regarding Royal Yuck! :)
