My Zippo lighters were bought years ago. Solidly built. I dunno maybe the newer ones aren’t made as well?
I use a pocket Scripto butane lighter w/ adjustable flame most of the time now (7 for $2) but if outside & its breezy, a Zippo just plain works.

If you think there’s an issue with it, contact zippo. Their lifetime warranty is stood behind in my experience and they were very communicative in my emails with them in the past.

I have my grandpa’s zippo, which is over 50 years old, and it works exactly as expected. No idea if their present quality is still up to par, but the old ones are plenty durable.

Zippo inserts are not solid like they used to be. I remember my old ones from 80s being little better fitting and quality. Just get Armor Brass Zippo now days.
