Wonderful information. This is especially interesting to me, since I'm of the younger crowd that really has no personal connection to the history here. It would make a hell of a documentary, or book!
I'm stuck here at work, wishing I could light a pipe full.

Just recently scored a job lot of various old tobacco labels,

these 2 were included.
I know they're not from Ireland, but these band strap style labels are scarce survivors because they'd usually be tossed in the dustbin after unwrapping the plug...

There needs to be a version of Dr. Who where he goes back in time to sample all the classic tobaccos...

Extremely interesting stuff here. Thanks for taking the time to put this up.

I find the art and packaging very important in the whole experience of preparing and smoking.
The historic art and marketing is fascinating, the iron steam presses are amazing.

I am currently in negotiation with certain parties to acquire my very own TARDIS,

hopefully I shall procure it!

Meanwhile,

it's back to the yellowed pages of yore,

amongst the titillating dust of a melancholic survey -

rattling the bones of archaic tobo's scintillating skeleton.
