The only irony here is that after the smoke clears (no pun intended) only the lawyers will be able to afford a decent cigar or pipe tobacco.

Don't forget that Philip Morris and R. J. Reynolds lobbied for this law as it is designed to kill competition and give them a monopoly in the tobacco business. It shouldn't be surprise that the financial burdens and hurdles are set up to favor cigarette makers. You might try writing to Philip Morris and R J Reynolds and tell them what you think and that you're going to boycott their products.

This is the crucial point, right here. This is part of an attempt by big tobacco to consolidate their control over the industry. sablebrush hit it right on the nose.

The way I see it, The Cigarette companies did what they had to do in a very volatile market. You have Statist driven to ruin a free and legal commodity, tobacco. Unfortunately we have scarlet letters, but we have no one to blame for this but ourselves. We voted for these 60's Radicals running the oligarchy. Time for small Pipe and Cigar to get in the lobby business until Lassiez Faire is accepted as the rational and logical option, at least.
