Greetings from a lurker and relatively new member. I started pipe smoking in 1979. Rich’s in Portland was my local shop. (A friend suggested Three Nuns, and I still have the empty tin.) Not long after I took to cigars and abandoned pipe smoking for 30 years. Three years ago on a bitter cold night I craved a smoke and decided it was too cold to smoke outside. I never smoked cigars indoors, but I figured that a pipe might be acceptable. So I pulled the only pipe I had – a Bari freehand from 1979 – and fired up some 30 year old Rich’s pipe tobacco. The smoke was far from perfect due entirely to the fact that I didn’t know what I was doing, but it got me interested in learning more. The internet, including this forum, made getting up to speed fairly easy.
I now have 120 pipes – the bulk of which are Savinelli, Dunhill, Castello, Ser Jacopo, Sasieni and Caminetto estate pipes. Also in the mix are pipes by GBD, Mark Tinskey, Rinaldo, Tom Spanu and Baldo Baldi.
On the tobacco front I have about 300 tins, 70 of which were vintage purchases. In all I have 81 tobacco blends, all of which are jarred. Dunhill, GL Pease, Samuel Gawith, MacBaren are heavily represented.
I enjoy reading posts on this forum and figured it was time to say hi. That is all for now. Time for a smoke and a whiskey!

Welcome! Sounds like you're off to a fabulous start! It sounds like we have similar taste in pipes, or at least pipe makers.

Yes, welcome.
Sounds like your collection/cellar is greater than 80%(?) of the forum. Regardless, enjoy your collection and the time here.

Welcome! I've only been a pipe smoker for 20 some years -and on/off for the first several. Sounds like you have quite a bit to contribute, and I look forward to reading your posts.
I'll warn you that the folks here are a bad influence and will encourage you to spend on new/unknown to you tobacco blends and pipes... the bums
They are also a very nice group that will welcome and educate.

Howdy from West By God Virginia USA. Im of Viking stock some of my distant relatives made and still make pipes but that and 2 bucks will get you a cup of coffee somewhere.
I have smoked pipes since 1966 off and on mind you, but now its a habit i enjoy. My favorite pipes are of Danish flavor ( wink wink) I have a Bang, several Eric Nordings, Stanewlls, Ole Zettervigs Kolding and Copehagen,Baris', and others i cant remember at this moment.
My biggest problem is getting bored with some tasteless tobaccos on the market today. I hope to have fun, learn some things and not be told to quit smoking my pipe.

Hello, Sven! :)
You appear to have a good sense of humor, one of my favorite attributes in both men and women, ja sure!
What tobaccos are you liking, and disliking? Do you have a tobacco store reasonably near?
Welcome to the forum!
