Hi all. My father recently passed away and has about a half dozen beautifully maintained Dunhill pipes from the 50's and 60's. What the the best way to find their value and where is the best place to list them for sale? Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry for your loss, I second Steve Fallon (aka Pipe Stud) he can be reached at Pipe Stud Consignments.

Dunhill pipes sell at pretty good prices in general, so you might do fairly well with those. If it were me, I would keep one or two as mementos and heirlooms even if I didn't smoke them. Pipes are quite personal, and obviously your dad had them for many years and valued them. Unless you categorically don't smoke on principle or for health reasons, you might want to smoke them on ceremonial occasions like your dad's birthday, etc.

Sorry, we are smokers here and don’t provide evaluations.

If they're in good condition, the easiest way to monetize those pipes is to send them to Estate Purchasing at smokingpipes.com. You can keep as keepsakes the pipes they reject. Here is their address but you should read their policies first:

I agree about Steve Fallon (pipestud) and Smokingpipes. You might also ask Marty Pulvers (Pulvers prior briars). Marty is a great guy, funny, smart and curmudgeonly and is very generous with his time and knowledge. I also urge you to save on or two in your dad's memory. Sorry for your loss.

I doubt SP would reject any Dunhills, so I'd pre-select any you wish to keep. Otherwise, you'd be bartering backwards once they have proposed an offer. Or explain what you are doing in advance so they will understand when you want to claw some back.

I've used the store credit option a number of times. The store credit offer is a little better than the cash sale, but if you don't want pipes, tobacco or accessories, it's not an option.

if he really wants money turn it into store credit buy as much of the rare blends and then sell those in a few years. Got play the game bro if you want to get rich. ;)

Search our forum sponsors and online for Dunhill’s for sale to compare prices, eBay is also a great resource for information and price comparison.

Sorry for your loss. I agree, sell them to smokingpipes.com or contact Steve at pipestud.

Go to pipedia.org to read about Dunhill's history and how to date them. You might find it interesting.

Good luck.
