No joke. Last summer I was grilling. I opened the patio door to go check on the meat and stepped right on top of one of these guys, full grown and all (maybe 4-5 inches across). Of course I was barefoot! I think he was just as surprised as I was, and fortunately he seemed ok. Now I always, ALWAYS look before I step in the state of Arizona.

My gated community borders with Tortolita Reserve. Great area!Welcome, Ben! I'm just a couple of miles away from you in Casas Adobes (near Shannon/Overton), and I did indeed see a Rattlesnake in your fair city the last time I rode the Tortolita Preserve trail.
