Hello all,
I have just picked up smoking a pipe. I tried my first pipe a few months ago at my ranch with my cousin, I instantly fell in love. Since then, I have bought a Nording Freehand, and a MM Cob. I have been putting Lane 1Q, Lane Hazelnut, and a local "vanilla custard" through the nording. I bought the cob two days ago and put Frog Morton in it. I was not sure if I would like the latakia, so I bought a cheap pipe to put it in. I really enjoyed the half bowl I packed. Later tonight I will try a little more.
Thanks to these forums I was able to do some research before picking out some tobacco to start with. I have not purchased anything online, I enjoy supporting local businesses. Looking forward to being a part of these forums.
If anyone has some suggestions for more tobaccos to try, please feel free to inform me.

Welcome aboard, brother! We're glad you're here. Like you, I fell in love with pipe smoking with my very first bowl. Sounds like you're off to a good start with your pipes and tobaccos, and it will only grow from there. And grow. And grow. Oh well. If you have a Brick and mortar in your neighborhood who can provide you with good pipes, tobaccos and service, by all means support a local business. When it comes to online shopping, our sponsors are without a doubt the best places to shop--they carry a wide range of merchandise, offer great service, friendly advice, and are honest and upright business people.

If you're looking for tobacco suggestions, I highly recommend Sutliffe Private Stock. They have a very nice algorithm to help you select tobaccos you might like. I have particularly enjoyed Molto Dolce and Great Outdoors. If you decide you like Latakia, work your way through the Frog Morton series.

On this forum you'll find ten thousand of your closest friends eager to share their smoking experiences with you and to answer any question you might ask. And some you didn't.

Welcome to the forum!! Lots of tobaccos to try out there. Some find one and stick to it, and some enjoy the chase of constantly tasting new and different blends at various stages of age, bowl shapes, or times of day. Or a little of all of it. You're certain to find folks with a passion for the pipes and tobacco here. I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us. Welcome!!

Welcome friend. I am sure you will find more than enough tobacco selections from the different posts on here.

1Q is definitely one the most popular Aromatics out there. As well as the Frog Morten's for light English blends, that are considered aromatic crossovers. Explore what seems good to you. I like a variety of different tobaccos in the year and a half I have been going with the pipe. Again welcome!

Sounds like your off to a good start with those blends you chose. Dunhill blends are great also, most tobacco shops carry them. If you decide you like latakia then try Dunhill Nightcap. It's a popular blend and has a strong nicotine content. You should also try flake, they can be a nice, sweet smoke. I'm sure others will have better recommendations for you also. But Dunhill are very popular and usually easy to find.

Welcome rtg. You will find a great bunch of guys and gals with tons of information to answer just about any question you may have. Everything I know has come from the experience shared by this great group of people. This is only my 8th month of in it but I have many, many blends that I have tried, and have yet to try, and still have not decided on any of my favorites. Beware though. Membership comes with a great burden. Terrible conditions such as TAD (Tobacco Acquisition Disorder) and PAD (Pipe Acquisition Disorder) afflict most, if not all of the members here. It will strike your blind side, and at some point, you will very likely succumb, and cross over. However, we will be here to help you through these mad fits when they come. Enjoy!

Welcome aboard. I am relatively new as well and enjoy reading the forum and learning more about the various tobaccos. I've learned there is more tobacco out there than just Middleton Cherry  Actually, I was already a Frog Morton Cellar and Molto Dolce fan prior to finding this place. Now they have me smoking dark fired and non-aro flakes!
Beware of becoming inflicted with PAD (see glossary of terms). It's a terrible disease unless you have very deep pockets
