Charatan's Make Belvedere 315DC Dunhill Era
Let' me continue with a few more English pipes.
IMG_8448.jpegIMG_8449.jpegIMG_8450.jpegThis might "only" be a Belvedere but it is without any doubt one of my most favorite pipes, she is also in my top 5 smokers.

Loewe & co Haymarket 904
At some point my goal is to have at least one pipe from every single pipe brand. This recent edition is my first Loewe pipe - a brand I am very interested it, mostly for the century old pipes with silverwork, but as soon as I saw this one, I fell in love with it. Now I just need to try to date it, I already read some dating guides but I found them extremely confusing and more research is needed. I would appreciate it if some who knows how to date it lands a hand.

Dunhill Shell Briar 4407 Army mount (2014)
For the last of the English pipes for today yet another Dunhill that isn't a straight billiard. Although a bit too modern for my liking, the army mount makes it a very attractive pipe for me and again an outstanding smoker. I just couldn't wait to do the restoration for me to smoke a bowl, anyway it just needs a bit of work on the vulcanite.IMG_8445.jpegIMG_8446.jpegIMG_8447.jpeg

Etienne Aigner 624KS by Savinelli
Let's get the only Italian pipe for today out of the way. A bit of a controversial opinion, but so far I'm not the biggest fan of Italian pipes and especially Savinelli. I don't want to say that they are bad pipes, but there are so many other brands I find better, especially if we put the price as a factor. Anyway I have always wanted an Aigner pipe and this is the best shape I could have hoped for. I do have another matching pipe in the 101 shape, a matching lighter, two pipe bags an a nice pipe stand - all of that makes a really nice set, but I will be keeping the 624 and the rest I will pass on to someone who will appreciate it more than me.IMG_8451.jpegIMG_8452.jpegIMG_8453.jpegIMG_8454.jpeg

Peterson's Rua Free Hand Plateau
Before I move to the Danes I need to share one more of my top 5 pipes(I have the funny feeling that I will end up with more than 20 top 5 pipes, but lets just ignore that for now) I got this magnificent big lady, about a month ago, in my most hated condition - BRAND NEW & UNSMOKED.... an utter torture... do you smoke it and devalue the pipe or do you let it sit pretty in a display box... for month it stayed in its box hidden away, offering only frustration, even though I knew it could be so much more... Last night I decided to end the torture and smoked a bowl of S.V.H. in it, while reading a book for a few hours and it was absolutely superb!

I left the best for last of course, by best I meant the pipes I am most excited about at the moment - 3 pipes and all 3 danish ones. I will actually post hem in ascending order from least interesting to most interesting for me. That sounds wrong - all three are jewels!

Why did I have to say that I was going to rank them.... it's like having to choose which of your children you love more - you know the answer but you don't want to say it out loud...

Kriswill Straight Grain
Ever since I laid eyes on my first Kriswill pipe, I knew this was my brand! Krisswill pipes have all the everything I like in the danish pipes - partial rustication, interesting designs and brave shapes, but Kriswills are also very elegant, slim and light - a total opposite in comparison to classic danish design pipes, making them the perfect match for me. Previously I've had 4 more Kriswills, but I had to very unwillingly part with them and finally after months of waiting I get to fill the whole and I don't think there is a better Kriswill for the job than this one.IMG_8463.jpegIMG_8471.jpegIMG_8470.jpegIMG_8479.jpegIMG_8478.jpegIMG_8465.jpeg

I think with the volume of great finds you have in your AO this thread is a great idea.
I live in an area that is both a desert literally and a figurative desert when it comes to availability of old pipes.

Ok the plan for tonight has changed a bit... I was going to do 999's and I will still do but before that I finished a couple of restorations today - The Thurmann Fox and the Kriswill, so let me show you the after shots so you can compare with the before.
After that as per @bootlegpipes 's request on another thread about unicorn pipes, there will be those and then the 999s
Here is the Fox first:

And now the absolutely insane Kriswill straight grain:

Peterson Spigot Sytem 03s
My first ever estate pipe that started the whole thing - absolutely priceless for me!
DSC08363.jpgDSC08364.jpgDSC08365.jpgDSC08366.jpgHere is the list of the "Unicorn pipes" as a reminder:
First pipe - A Peterson's Spigot System 03s
Second Pipe - A Parker Jockey Club
Third Pipe - A small English made dental pipe
Fourth Pipe - A Sandblasted German Goldpoint
Sixth Pipe - A Danske Club 11 Naturell
Seventh Pipe - A Peterson's Sports 6
Eight Pipe - A cheap Denicotea Golf
and now one after the other an Orlik Supreme 9TS and a Charatan's Make Belvedere 313/318DC (not very legible) and the Charatan even outperforms all of the previous "Unicorns"...
The Charatan's I always mix up the shape number, but you have already seen it- its pipe #11 in this thread and I forgot to take photos of the Orlik so thats left for tomorrow.

Parker Jockey club
I feel so bad about this guy... up until last week this was beat up 20 euro pipe that was better than all the others , except for the Charatan but even then it was a close draw... It was also one of my first restorations ever and normally when I get a pipe I like I might do like a half restoration, just so I can already smoke it and then after a week or two when I have to clean the pipe more thoroughly I would finish the restoration completely. As you can see on the photos I started a repair on a whole it had on the stem- I closed the hole and leveled the surface but never finished it. This was actually intentional and a lot of fun for me to have a "project" pipe outperform 600 eur pipes.. Unfortunately that ended with a bang about a week ago and I completely lost that little novelty.... Now my best smoking pipe is also one of my most expensive ones, if not the most expensive... its hard to tell with older pipes sometimes... I hate it... but that pipe comes later in the list - Let's say pipe #66 will be it

English dental pipe
No idea what the brand is- it might be a Parker again since it came in the same lot
Ever since I got it I have smoked it multiple times a day while restoring pipes. I only had to sand down the dental tip a bit for a better fit obviously. This is also the pipe that made me realize that I don't clench my pipes(as a pipe restore I cringe at the thought of clenching one of my pipes), instead I let the pipe hang while the button rests against the back of my teeth.
Is the forum dying only on my end , I had to upload the photos like 5 times already..

Goldpoint extra
This specific German cheap pipe was the one that made me believe in "Unicorn" pipes but at this point I realized also that I have four of them and decided not to be selfish and instead of keeping them all , I would sell some of them cheap and preferably to beginners, as these pipes in my opinion could compensate to a point for the mistakes a beginner might make. Alternatively I have also gifted a few either to beginners or to friends who only liked modern new pipes and didn't care much for old estates.DSC04697.jpgDSC04698.jpgDSC04699.jpgDSC04702.jpgDSC04703.jpg

Danske Club naturel 11
My first ever Danish pipe and I was so happy when a friendly old fellow wrote me asking for advice on which pipe he should buy. He said that he has already been in the hospital for two weeks and was not allowed to smoke for the whole time. He just wanted to get a pipe in his hospital room that he wouldn't smoke but just hold in his hands. This absolutely melted my hearth and I knew I had to give him this one, because that is exactly what I was doing with it - I would smoke another pipe and play with this one, the tactile feeling of the organic shape and smooth waxed surface was very soothing. We jumped some hoops in order to get it delivered directly to his room, but we managed at the end.
