Interesting Medico

A good friend and fellow church member brought me one of his dad's pipes that he found in his tool box and asked me if I could do anything with it. It was dirty but otherwise in good condition. I cleaned it up and I'll be giving it back to him tomorrow. So here are some before and after pictures of a 1955 Medico Ventilator. Cool pipe and I'm honored that he trusted me with his dad's pipe.

I know he used to smoke a pipe so it is possible that it gets smoked. I'm guessing it's being displayed for now so I got a stand. I stopped by Pipes by George and picked up some Medico filters just in case though. This particular style can only be smoked with a filter and only genuine Medico filters would do.

I absolutely love the pipe. Very unique.
When I gave it to Dave this afternoon he was surprised at how well it came out and even alluded to having a go at smoking it.

Medico - for being a drug store pipe - made some spectacular pipes back in the day. My medico silver overlay is a treasure.
